The KawaiiPH Book – Book Review by @chocominteu

It’s the first day of the month of September and do you know what that means?

Yes! It’s the KAWAII MONTH!

The Kawaii Month is a special month-long celebration of the beauty of Kawaii and all things Cute and Japanese! And in lieu of this celebration, I decided to post another review! YAY!

It’s my very first time to actually purchase a book about all things Japanese and kawaii even when I’m so all about it since I loved watching animes on local tv when I was around 10 years old (oh yes that young. I guess you could blame Cardcaptor Sakura for that). I think the reason partly because I focused my obsession towards the Korean Culture than the Japanese Culture, but I definitely love both as much.

That aside, this book is very special because this is the very first (of the hopefully many!) book that the KawaiiPH team has ever made! Plus, the proceeds will go to the Kawaii Fund (to know more about their advocacy, visit ther official website: which definitely makes the reason for purchasing this book, a lot more special.

Articles/Content: 3 out of 5 stars

Why 3 stars? I love the sections of this book. It not only made me know more about the Kawaii Culture in Japan but, I also got to know more about how Filipinos got infected by this happy virus we all call Kawaii. I also got the chance to know more about the KawaiiPH circle and the things to spread the KAWAII LOVE. Our very own Kawaii Lovers Cebu even got feautured!

I didn’t give a 5-star rating because there were still areas that they have to improve on. But I truly understand as it is the first time that the team has ever created but so far, it’s coming along very fine. GREAT JOB KAWAIIPH TEAM!

Cover and Overall Layout & Design: 4 out of 5 stars

Why 4 stars? The KawaiiPH Book definitely live up to its being kawaii! The overall design of the book is just too cute for words. From the front cover to the last page, it was all cutely designed! I also loved how every article/section was designed creatively according to what it’s about without sacrificing the readability of the text. I only gave 4 stars because I think it’s too crowded and there were some pages that were a bit topsy-turvy (maybe it was part of the style or maybe, it’s just me). But still, the overall design was great! Another thumbs up!

Physical Quality: 5 out of 5 stars

Why 5 stars? The quality of the book is SUPERB! Not entirely the best out there but definitely one of the best of its kind. It also came in a very adorable red ribbon!

It made my day when the postman handed the package to me! 🙂

OVERALL: 4 out of 5 stars

Given that it is the first time that the team created something as such, it was a great book! As someone who is not really that into the Japanese and the Kawaii Culture, it made me know about it more and it also made me want to know more about it! Also, seeing how positive thekawaii virus has done to the individuals featured in the book and the creators themselves, makes me feel so proud to be part of the Kawaii World!

Great Job KawaiiPH Team! Cheers to more successful events for you guys! <3
